About Gabriela

Puerto Rican soprano, Gabriela Stoloff-Baez, (FKA Gabriela Linares Baez) found her passion for the vocal arts through a lineage of singers. She took on her grandmother’s vocal skills and fostered them from a young age through choirs and as a voice student at La Escuela Libre de Música, which led her to perform from a very young age.

Gabriela holds a Bachelors of Music from Oberlin Conservatory of Music and a Masters of Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Her journey includes performances with renowned organizations such as Opera Parallèle, Opera Theatre of St. Louis (OTSL), Seraphic Fire, and the Savannah Voice Festival. She has premiered multiple operatic roles including the role of Ramona in Jodi Goble’s The Eleanors at the 2025 National Opera Association Conference, in collaboration with the Savannah Voice Festival. Additionally she is a winner of the Oregon District (2023) and award recipient of the North West Region of the Metropolitan Opera’s Laffont Competition.

During Gabriela’s time as a Gerdine Young Artist at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis (2023 and 2024), she performed in Floyd’s Susannah (Mrs. Ott), Philip Glass’ Galileo Galilei (Scribe), and covered the role of Rosina in Rossini’s The Barber of Seville. She was featured as Ruth in OTSL’s Opera On The Go production of Pirates of Penzance. Her work at OTSL was recognized with the 2024 Elihu Hyndman Memorial Award.

Gabriela premiered the role of Rosie Casals in Laura Karpman’s opera Balls produced by Opera Parallèl. Most recently, Stoloff-Baez was recognized by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors after her work with Opera Parallèl’s production of Harvey Milk: Reimagined where she played activist and campaign manager, Anne Kronenberg.

She is passionate about new operatic works and diverse narratives in opera; and is eager to continue collaborating with organizations that value artistic excellence, innovation, and inclusion. In 2018 she founded the Oberlin Latinx Music Union and since then has been involved in numerous community engagement projects. Gabriela’s passion for music accessibility and education led her to join the faculty at the San Francisco Girls Chorus as their Level I Director and Theory Instructor from 2021 to 2023.

Gabriela Stoloff-Baez is committed to bringing her creative self, artistic and social commitment, and skills into the opera world; as she believes the arts have the power to promote change through storytelling. Stoloff-Baez strives to bring her depth of experience in both contemporary and traditional opera styles, alongside a strong foundation of professional skills, vocal training, and stage performance.
